Our Sponsored Construction Degree will give you all the experience, training and support you need to work towards becoming a future Site Manager who makes sure our developments are built to the highest quality as efficiently as possible. As a leading housebuilder, you’ll find us working on circa 350 developments in both towns and rural areas across the UK, and every one poses unique challenges. 

Our Site Managers are responsible for delivering the solutions to these challenges; ordering materials, managing big projects, ensuring health and safety and delivering exceptional customer service. Your job will be to help them do just that. You’ll assist in leading the development of the site through to completion; co-ordinating trades, directing labour and materials, whilst meeting a challenging schedule on time, within budget, with a focus on quality and customers. We need people who can bring us fresh ideas and imagination whilst mastering the essentials of managing people, budgets and costs.

Your university modules provide academic teaching on best practice, regulation and everything an exceptional site manager needs to know to become a master of your craft. By the time you’ve finished the programme, we hope you’ll be running a site of your own. By completing your degree, you’ll be equipped with the most up-to-date information about modern methods of construction, sustainable building techniques as well as the people and management skills you need to grow professionally. You’ll also get an industry-recognised BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Residential Development and Construction Degree. 

From there, the future is yours. We’re an ageing workforce and one of our key reasons for creating this programme is to fast-track people into leadership roles. That could be on-site or it could even be more senior Manager and Director roles.

To join this programme, you must have the potential to focus on customer expectation and commercial needs, and understand the level of commitment that will be required from you to successfully manage working on-site alongside furthering your education.

You’ll also need to meet one of the following minimum requirements:

  • 1 A-Level & 4 GCSEs (C or above) including Maths and English
  • BTEC National Qualification
  • Advanced Diploma in Construction or Built Environment
  • Other access or foundation courses

More experienced entrants without formal qualifications will be considered on merit, taking into account factors such as their work experience, previous qualifications or time in the Armed Forces.

3. Video interview

If you are successful, you will be invited to participate in a video interview, where you will be asked questions about your key skills, commercial awareness and motivations.

4. Assessment centre

These will be held between May and August, and will involve an interview, case study exercise and verbal and numerical testing.

5. Final interview

Final interviews will take place from May onwards, with a Director at your local office.

6. Job offer

Successful applicants will receive their offers from May onwards.

7. Start your job

Start your job with us from July onwards, and your induction at Sheffield Hallam University the following January.
